NOVA SCOTIA WOODLOT OWNERS & OPERATORS ASSOCIATION – 2022

Following the devastation caused by Hurricane Fiona, forest professionals collaborated to address the challenges and provide insights on enhancing forest resilience amidst a changing climate. The resulting video, released shortly after the hurricane’s impact, aimed to swiftly disseminate crucial information to landowners. Produced by the Nova Scotia Woodlot Owners & Operators Association and Community Forests International, the video emphasized the urgency of adopting ecologically sensitive forest practices on non-industrial woodlands in the Maritimes. Through firsthand accounts and expert advice, the video encouraged woodland stewards to proactively mitigate risks and foster resilient ecosystems in the face of future environmental disturbances.

This ongoing project, conducted in partnership with the Nova Scotia Woodlot Owners & Operators Association, entails the creation of a series of videos documenting workshops on ecological forestry practices. These videos serve as a crucial tool for disseminating information and attracting more participants to sign up for future workshops. By capturing the insights shared during these sessions, the videos aim to broaden the reach of the workshops, making valuable knowledge accessible to a wider audience. Through engaging visual content, viewers are encouraged to explore topics such as management strategies, climate adaptation, fire risk mitigation, and more, ultimately fostering greater awareness and interest in sustainable forestry practices among landowners.
